addison comes home!!!

Great News! After Addisons check up today and another EKG, the doctors cleared her to come home with Heather and I! What a relief! We still have many pediatrician appointments and cardialogist appointments in the months to come but we have peace of mind knowing she is hear with us at our home. More updates to come as we learn more about this whole stressful experience.

Addisons Arrival

On December 16th our little angel from the the grace of Gods hands was born at 5:13 am at Chandler Regional Medical Center. Weighing in at 7 1/2 Lbs, (just under her Fathers weight) and measuring at 19 1/4 inches Addison Kristine Bennett changed our lives forever and filled a hole in us that we never knew was there. The days following Addisons delivery Heather and I adapted well with our new joy and were preparing ourselves for life outside the hospital. Unfortunatley Gods plan for her was a bit different and he neglected to share this bit of information with us. The day we were supposed to discharge from the hospital one of the nurses discovered a little murmur with Addisons heart. That little murmur ended up being more than that, a lot more. Doctors decided to run some test on her including ultra sound and EKG. Through the testing it was discovered that Addison has a heart defect, actually 4, but whos counting after 1 anyways right? The heart condition that our baby has is called Tetralogy of Fallot. That means she has a hole in her heart where the left and right ventricals let blood pass through. The side that has blue blood can potentially flow into the side that has red blood and cause addison to turn blue. Thankfully Addison hasn't shown any signs or symptoms of the diagnosis. After speaking with the cardiologist Heather and I are feeling a little bit more comfort with just knowing what exactly is going on with Addisons heart. We are now preparing for the months to come that will be filled with fear, anxiety, and tons of stress while addison is victim to her heart condition. The plan the doctors have is weekly visits to the childrens hospital for more testing and monitoring unitl she is a bit bigger in 3-5 months, then she will have to undergo corretive open heart surgery, the projected recovery time is 1 week. Meanwhile, we will be praying for our baby Addison and her health, we encourage friends and family to do the same for her. We will keep updates coming while we find out more information and endure more through our scary experience.
